Tips on checking out the new truck
This weekend i am driving 250 miles to buy my first power stroke. A 2001 F-250 crew cab with a short bed. It is a Lariat with all the options, 4X4, auto with a 132k miles. It is burnt orange and black, the truck looks real sharp in the picture and has a clean car fax. Now i need pointers, everything i need to check and how to check it to make sure it is a good quality truck. Thanks for your time and help

Here is a write up with good info for yaWhat to look for when buying a USED 99-03 PSD Also check the oil pan for any signs of corrosion as its a problem and you have to pull the engine to change it out. Also if you become a premium member you can provide the vin # and the org will run an oasis report for you. Its a report on any dealer warrenty maint done to the truck it might or might not shed any light on previous problems. Good luck on your search

I agree check the oil pan as well if you gotta replace it you have to pull the tranny. If the oasis is clean carfax is clean and oil pan looks good go for it

I would upgrade and get an OASIS done on it. It's unlike carfax, it's dealer work done to the truck warranty or non-warranty repairs. If it had a motor replaced or just simple door seal replaced it's on the OASIS report. The report itself is worth the price of the Premium membership just for the report if your buying a used PSD... You won't regret it, it's peace of mind...
