Auto tranny problems
I am shopping for 99-03 7.3L superduty and i have heard that the auto's in theese trucks are total crap. Are they really that bad? I will use this truck for daily driving and the occasional towing about 6k with trailer.
How much does it cost to build one that is bulletproof, and how much does it effect your mileage vs the 6 speed? Thanks kevin. |

i'd say whoeverr told you that is full of crap.
for daily driving and occassional towing you should be fine. heck my 4r100's fine. plenty of them are. yeah they eventually go but guess what with that many miles and work of course they wear out. if you want bullet proof get a bts tranny.. otherwise drive and enjoy and dont over heat it. |

I got 212,000 on my truck, still original tranny, and I do haul a lot with mine, it's mostly about how you drive it beating on it and drag racing can kill or towing huge loads and not watching the temps can be hard. but I have towed some exteme loads with mine.

That is good to hear because i really want an auto pretty bad. I have never owned an auto and i got spoiled in a 07 gmc (company truck).
