PTC brand filter okay to use? I've noticed they are substantially cheaper in cost compared to the Racor and Ford/Motorcraft brands. I know a filter is a filter generally speaking but I've seen with oil filters to basically stay away from Fram and that Baldwin and Wix are the best. Just wanted to know if the same applies to fuel filters as well and if anyone has had any use or dealings with the PTC brand. Thanks

No experience with that brand, but I have with wix and it sucked. The filter is sub-quality and their 'special re-design' for the gasket and attached cap made it leak unless I rounded off the nut on the top wrenching down on it. Not how I like things to work, or how they should work. I have never had any issues with a motorcraft filter and will NEVER put anything but in my truck ever again.
just my .02, I just have learned time and time again with auto parts that if you get the real deal you can't go wrong. I have used the wix oil filters and they seem fine, but after that experience with their fuel filters, and I got a 6637 style filter from wix and the pleats are uneven and there was a lot of plastic excess around the opening that could flake off...I have been chased away permanently after that. No more mickey mouse for me. Scott Last edited by ScottyP5947; 03-28-2010 at 04:43 PM. Reason: forgot! |
