2000 F450
Hi everyone, I am new to Fords and to diesels as well. I am looking at a 2000 F450 Super Duty two wheel drive. The truck has 65,000 miles, new tires all the way around, a fairly new CM bed model SK I believe. The truck has the 7.3, 6-speed, some sort of programmer for more power, and the exhaust looks to be straight pipe from the engine to just short of the rear axle where it dumps. The price for the truck is 13,900. I do not know anything about these trucks except for the faulty CPS. I hear the 7.3 is the best engine that Ford put out on these trucks. I know that it is an International engine but as far as how good of a truck this is I am leaving that for the guys who know their stuff. I am looking at this truck to keep the wear and tear off of me daily driver. The truck is just the basic with no power windows or locks. The truck really catches my eye. I have already been reading about the front clip conversions as well as interior conversions. But first things first what can you guys tell me about this truck as far as pros and cons. What do you think of the price. Seems to be fair for the miles, tires, bed, etc. Thanks in advance

Would be a great truck, I would love to have a F450 in 4wd, but it's not in the budget, should be a good deal and pull anything you need.
Pros, 7.3 engine 26000 gcwr, cons, not 4wd, that's it |

Does the price of the truck seem ok? I wish it were a 4wd as well, would probably cost too much to convert it though.

Tossing it around to use it for hotshot runs as well. Might not be cost affective to do part time. Especially with the gears, aren't they 4.88s. How much would it affect the truck if it was changed to 4.30 or 4.10s? Could you go any higher of a gear say 3.73 or would that just be too much. Maybe if going that drastic would be better off with f250. I wouldn't want to do that. I already have a 3/4 ton.
