7.3 emmisions crap!

Can someone tell me when theese trucks had all of the emmision crap put on them I have heard it was 02 and i am looking at a 02 lariat so that would suck...

Also what is the mechanical differences in the early 7.3L and the 99-02 7.3L I am looking to buy a late model 7.3L but I dont know much about them. I have owned the one in my sig for a long time and love it but I just want a nbs with extended cab and an auto.

Not quite sure what you mean my emissions crap, but 7.3's didnt have all that much in the way of emissoins stuff, even in 03.

Cat and CCV are the only things that come to mind off the top of my head.

I was reading a thread somewhere on the org yesterday and it said that the 02+ superdutys has alot stricter standards, that killed the mileage. I am not exactly sure what he was talking about either (computer controls maybe), along with cats. But i take the cats off of everything i own anyways lol, so the cats dont matter to me. Like i said up top i am looking for a nbs 7.3 w/auto and hoping it gets as good or better mileage than my OBS.

my 02 has no cat. im pretty sure youre thinking of 6.0's. most 7.3's 99-03 didnt have cats, e99's did.

My 03 didnt have a cat. It is a 7.3, one of the last of the best!

You're thinking of the 6.0s.. They started putting EGR systems in the 6.0s and that is what killed mileage and the engine.. I just removed all mine... No 7.3l has any kind of emissions that you would need to worry about.. Our 7.3 has been stock for 135,000+ miles and has EVERY part on it still that it had in 1999 when it was made.. Nothing has broken on it.. The Turbo is getting a little oily though....

No cat on my 01, it's stock as a rock, soon to be no muffler though!

Don't do it man! Our 7.3 and my 6.0 are sticks and I love each one.. Mileage wise, it shouldn't matter I don't think
