Best Tank of Fuel---EVER!!!

Well, it's not over yet, but I've had a run of 348 miles & I'm still a click over 1/4 of a tank! For a while, I had been experimenting with driving techniques on how to get better MPG, but I kept getting the same crap. After weeks of trying, I gave up. Lately, I had started taking the long way to work instead of using the highway. If I go the highway, it's about an 8.5 mile run where the long way through the country roads is exactly 13 miles. On the highway, there's slight uphill on a 2mi stretch & I can travel @ 65-70mph where on the country route, it's mostly flat, some uphill travel, a little downhill, & I can drive from 40mph to 50-55mph on the last stretch to work. Then on sun., I had to take my son back home in CT. That's about 150 mile ride round trip & it's almost all highway.


It seems I've been getting better MPG on the country roads than I do on the highway. I always thought you'd get your best MPGs on the highway. I'll post back when I get the final MPGs, but it looks like I'll get pretty close to 400mi on this tank! I'm hoping for around 18-19MPGs!

Nope, it's Heavy! & she is DONE, szyd! I've had her together for about 2 1/2 months!

yeah i get way way way better mpg at 45 55 than i do 65+

I need good pics & vid. My camera has gotten worse over time & it's like I need a cloudless, sunny day with stadium lights to capture anything. I'll get something up soon, man. I've been living a life of adventure lately, & now I've gotta take care of a couple of things between......er.........my wife & me(looooooooooong story). She also bought me an '09 HD Springer Cross Bones & the bike's been my fascination lately. That's also another item I wanted to get pics of but can't.

I know how you feel before the truck and the ORG I was spending more time and money on my stang. It has not been driven in a couple yers. Congats on getting her together and the new bike. I have not been around for a bit so i thaught i missed something.

I hope your truck is a short bed... I can get 300+ miles til the needle is at half tank.

Nah, you didn't miss a thing. I haven't been on much lately either(been kicked out of the house), Heavy had been hauled in different locations to get the build finished, lost a couple of pieces that had to be rebought on the way, had a couple of trial & error sessions, made a crapload of phone calls to various diesel performance gurus, & finally got her runnin' right. About a couple of weeks ago, my wife & I got back together. We went to a local Harley dealer to get a quart of oil for her Springer & walked out with paperwork for my Springer. The Harley shop had a "Competitor's Bike Trade" program going on & they said they'd give me $1300-$1500 for my '82 CB750F. I trailered it down last sat, they inspected it, & gave me $1300 for it. I promised my wife she could have 1st ride on the bike, so she put the 1st 18mi. on it. Now it's been raining like crazy in RI & I haven't had 1 single shot to ride the damn thing!
