BATTERY/ALTERNATOR ISSUES

Last night i was driving in a pretty bad rainstorm and my check battery light came on... parked the truck and went to start up this morning (dry outside), started fine but the battery light was still on. parked and went to start up earlier (raining again) and it clicked and the gauges reset, no start or turnover.

i am thinking the alternator has gone out... or that there is short somewhere, but i have never had this problem.

any help/advice is greatly appreciated. i have to drive back to texas from mississippi on saturday.

check and clean batteries first if not check this out
