a dumb question to ask
Is there a timing belt in 7.3 engine?

i don't know specifically if there is a "belt", but something would have to open/close the valves at the right time. there is also a position sensor that tells the computer what position the engine is in, so the computer can deliver the fuel at the right time.

no timing belt... Timing is meshed off the crank and cam... All under the front cover... See if I can find a pic...

Cool pic. Here's a Q for you. Is it cost effective to rebuild the 2002 7.3. I was told otherwise. Can you buy remanufactured 7.3's at a good price or better to buy new. Thanks BGJ

With 20k on your truck why are you even thinking of a rebuild?
A rebuild kit from IH is only about $1300 or so, maybe $1000 in labor work on the block and heads and your in it about $3000 after parts and gaskets... |
