WHAT IS THIS!!!

CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE PIECE ON THE LEFT WAS MOUNTED ON THE OUTSIDE BUT I TUCKED IT BEHIND. I TOOK A CLOSER LOOK AT IT TODAY AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS. I PULLED THE CHIP OUT OF THE PIECE ON THE LEFT AND THE TRUCK WOULDN'T START WITH IT OUT AND THE LIGHT ON THE PIECE FLASHED. IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEA WHAT THIS IS PLEASE LET ME KNOW. THANKS!

Sounds to me like it's some kind of security system if the truck wouldn't start without the chip.

Thats what i thought also, but i was also thinkin maybe its a old style performance chip. Like maybe theres different modules you can put in there or something??

idk what it is but id like to know if its something that im gonna keep or not or how to even get rid of it if its causing the truck to not even start when its not complete.!

Some Dodges had a factory setup like that only it was a bit more "factory" looking for an anti theft feature. My old roommate had one like that. I'm betting that is what it is.

okay so if it is a anti theft system im okay with just leaving it on and hiding it? its kind of an odd set up i think.

I looked at a car for the wife with one of those several years ago, its dealer installed. the chip is the key, if you wanted to buy it, they would charge you for a chip that was bigger and easily removed, if you didn't want the security they would install a smaller chip and stuff it up under the dash, at no charge. it was like 300-400 bucks at the time.

huh ill leave it than. i guess its nice cause i can just remove the chip whenever i leave the truck alone for a while and sleep a little better at night lol. thanks alot guys.
