Any reason not to do the DIY intake?
I have a friend who want's to but was told it was bad for his truck?

A K&N or other oil washed filter media is bad for it. as long as you use a filter with a dry element you'll be good, and make sure all your fittings are sealed up tight.

The only bad (if you call it that) thing is you can hear more air sucking noise....it doesn't bother me...

I have had mine on the truck sence the first week ive had it. Lots of dust here in tx to well about 2 in of snow yesterday to heavy rain.....no issues here. I love it

I have one on mine with absolutly no trouble. The only thing that it does is sound like its sucking up small animals but it dont bother me and plus it filters better than the stock filter and it is much much cheaper than a marketed CAI

It's freaking loud. That's the bad part. I'm ready to go to a Ford AIS which will be quieter, plow nearly as well, filter better, but more expensive.
