7.3 service engine soon light?

I need help. I just purchased a 2001 4x4 Excursion with 82k miles on it. I drove it a day and about 100 miles and now the service engine soon light is on and wont go off. I looked it up in the owner's manual and it was highlighted from the previous owner... It runs well, No vibrating, lack of power or anything else. Any ideas?

have it scanned to look for codes

it could be a hundred different things that turns that light on. get a scanner that supports the PSD, or take it to a diesel shop.

And just cause you dont feel a problem, doesnt mean that light is not a big deal, their is a problem, and it needs to be taken care of.
