injector ?
a buddy of mine just bought a 2003 7.3L. it has a 6 position chip(don't know who tuned it). it is pretty fast for just a chip intake and exhaust. how can he tell if the injectors were upgraded before?

is there any way to figure it out just by the letters and numbers on the injector?

Stock injectors will say AD on there. If they are modded injectors, they could be a mix of different letters. Does it have a stock turbo?
