Question on 4x4 lockouts
Hey all,
Need some clarification with the lockouts on my 03 f250. The lockouts have an Auto position and Lock position. I fully understand the lock position but my question is in the Auto position are the front wheels supposed to engage when the 4x4 switch is engaged in the cab. I have been told yes, no and several other variations of usage, haha. In any event mine does not engage in the Auto position so if they are supposed to engage any ideas as to why not...thanks |

Yes the sw on the dash sends vacuum to the front hubs and they're definitely supposed to engage.
The reason they don't work could be as simple as a cracked vacuum line right at the nipple on the hub or someplace else. A bad vacuum leak or pump usually accompanies heater door issues... It could also be your hubs simply need to be dissembled, cleaned & lubed or many other, more serious, issues I guess too
