02 F250 CA smog check question

I just purchased an 02 7.3L auto in january from a dealer. The dealer called me and informed me that they forgot to smog my truck before letting me drive off with it. I took it to a local smog shop and this was the first diesel they smogged. Truck passed every test except the visual since it has no cats. The guy says he called a few dealers and they told him that most of the 02 7.3L auto's did not have cats but that mine should have one.

I left and called the dealer where I purchased my truck. They informed me that my truck should not have a cat and that the smog people were idiots. They want me to drive the 2 hrs to them and have them smog my truck.

The smog station guy told me the cat my truck should have is expensive. So my concern is that I don't want the dealer just to have my truck passed illegaly and I get stuck with my truck not passing smog in the next 2 years for not having a cat. I've called several dealers and even the D.O.T. with no success. Any advice?????

really easy to prove... fack these smog bs idiots.. pop your hood there should be an emissions sticker that'll say 'catalyst' or 'noncatalyst' non means you didnt have one, ever! mine doesnt have one, as far as i know none of the 02's did, some 99's did.
that'll take care of it.
