ok im confused i dont know if the sound im hearing is turbo surge, compressor surge, turbo stall, or just the normal wastegate blow off, this video link is a video of the sound instead of trying to explain it ill let you listen for yourself you need to turn it up to beable to tell between engine noise and the turbo noise the description next to the video explains whats goin on. im not wanting to drop 1500 on a new turbo so any advise would be good advice..

around 1:02 and 1:16 as it builds boost you hear it sound almost like its coughing, that is surge. again at 1:46. the psssshhhh when you let off is normal when you have an open intake. There is no blow off valve on a diesel like on a gasser. in my wrx the blow off valve would send that boost back to the front of the turbo to be recirculated. on the diesel its blasted back out the intake.

Mine surged a tiny bit empty but hook up to my 12k 5er and it would not stop surging. I put on the WW and have not heard it surge since.

Get the wicked wheel. I actually gained a couple pounds of boost with one too. Check around for videos of guys doing it with the turbo in the truck if you're going to do it yourself.

does it sound like a blow off valve on a ricer blowing a bunch of times? mine does it too and ive been thinking it a turbo surge but im not sure

my intake is so loud i love it was funny right after i put it on i took it around the block and i thought the filter had fallen off it was so loud

they are correct..the woosh is from the open intake and surge is like light accel at like 60mph and it shuders like cha cha cha cha cha then goes smooth..
