2002 F-250 Nerf Bar - How to Reattach

I broke my Ford nerf bar off my truck the other day when I went up over a giant pile of snow. It looks like some type of press-in nut pulled out, and when I started to pull the other side off to see how it's put together it's now also loose and won't pull tight. Anybody know how to put this back on without welding a nut into it?

i ripped a set off and there really isnt much you can do. the metal is so thin and your only option is to weld to it really... good luck
