White, Blue, Kinda purplish exhaust
What does it mean when a diesel truck starts up and you get white smoke and or blue-ish purple smoke from the exhaust....i saw a bunch of people fighting on youtube comments about what it means and i was just curious because i don't know what it means? lol One guy said it's from reving it high when the engine is bone cold????

If it's cold, white is usually glow plugs not working right (or just extremely cold).

I have a glow-plug out on my truck....I have some white smoke when I start it on cold days. I plan on fixing this problem next week. Exhaust smoke that is white, can be caused from a variety of reasons.

White usually from cold start. The blueish color is from oil.
