falls on its face in high gear
I have noticed my truck pulls hard through all the gears up to red line then once im into 6th on the floor it seems like its lacking power after 2600rpm, like something is holding it back like its running out of fuel..
it only does it when in high gear goin for a full throttle not on the quick bursts of high rpm between shifts, the check engine light comes on at about 2800rpm but leaves no codes I have a boost fooler so it shouldn't be defueling.. has new fuel filter already I have a early 99 with the tw chip with stock injectors is it a possibility the stock hpop cant keep up? I have had the scanner on it and found no issues.. truck has 165,000miles |

sounds like a weak pump to me..

I guess Ill have to find a way to put a gauge on it or see if the scanner at work will give me readings while driving..
what is proper psi needed to run the injectors to full potential? and has anyone swapped a 99.5 pump onto a early 99 (I know the obs guys do this) and did it make a big difference? |

Somewhere between 2800-3000 PSI
Also, your truck should already have the 17* pump, if it doesn't you can slap one on and it'll be able to keep up with stock squirters. |

I thought the early 99 had the smaller 15* pump?

Sorry, didn't see the early 99 thing
Yeah its still got a 15* pump then. You can put a new 17* on though, its a direct bolt on. |

E99 does have the 15* unless some one has already been there..no moding needed to upgrade..bolts right in..if i was you and had the cash..go for this..its next on my list..
http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=894 should be the last pump you will need.. |

WHat tune is this hapening in? I have a TW chip and I notice this in my street race tune and if it downshifts it is a slug at high speeds in heavy tow. If it stays locked up itis fine.

on stock and economy it doesnt feel as bad but it still does it that Adrenaline isnt too much more then a new stock 99.5 and up pump, just wonder if it will be a big difference compared the the 15* in there right now with the stock sticks or not |

just going to a 17* will give you more HP..the truck will pull harder through the RPM's and add to the top end with a little less smoke .....im running Joey's moded pump right now and its holding up well how ever i want a little more......im thinking on the Adrenaline right now..but if i find a set of twins cheap ...ill take them...
