Help me identify an axle - Ford Powerstroke Diesel Forum

Help me identify an axle

Looking to buy a front axle from someone, just want to confirm this is a dana 60. Here is the info the seller gave me: Came out of a 2002 F250, gear ratio is 3.73...here is a picture he sent me:



Looks like a 60 to me, but dont the dana 50's look just like them? What else should i look for here? Im used to dana 30's and 8.8's....

more than likely a dana 50! you would need to look for numbers around the diff housing! there are a few spots on the housing that have numbers, one number should either be a 50 or a 60! that will tell ya what you buying! but im 80% shure the F250s had the Dana 50

The dude says it is a 60 but i want to make sure. i will research some more on the ID numbers on the axles. thanks

from what i understand, the 50s and 60s look really similar. only difference is pinion shaft diameter and axle shaft diameter and spline count i believe

i thought the 50 was TTB? or was another number assigned to them?

From 99-to mid 02 f250s came with a solid Dana 50, but somewhere in 2002 Ford decided to put the Dana 60 under f250s.

Yes it was. I'm not sure why they both had the same number but the ttb is also known as the D50.
