what trans oil do i use for 4r100

i just bought an automatic but the manual says to use what the dipstick says the stick says mercon but other sources tell me to use mercon 5 but the manual says that mercon and mercon 5 are not interchangable so which is it.

Im pretty sure its the mercon 5. or just get some synthetic like scheafers.

Most say Mercon V is not good for the tranny.. best is the napa fluid its the old mercon III or whatever came with the truck and its made by valvoline, get somee!

Well sorry about the V... I wasnt sure. the other oil i mentioned is very good.

yeah something NCHornet is very passionate about. haha. Mercon V isnt made for these trucks yet ford is now saying it is.... makes no sense. thats all im saying..

tis very true.. just use mercon ..or there will be a big talk on here howmercon 5 its not good and blah blah blah..the world is coming to an end blah blah blah.. ive had mercon 5 for 220 000km with no issues..
