Looking to buy a Scan tool!
Hey everyone, I am looking to buy a Scanner to use on my F250 and F550 with the 2002 7.3L.
I was looking for some advice on which scanner some of you would recommend. I would like to purchase one that will also work on the 6.0L and 6.4L diesel and possibley Gassers as well if possible? I want one that can run the buzz test and all that stuff. I already have a superchip code reader, but thats all it does is read codes and clear them. The SCT Tuner is a great code puller, also you can try Auto Engenuity, or OBDCOM.

For the money, auto enginuity is the best as long as you have a laptop to run it. It will do buzz tests and even test the gp system. Works on all OBDII systems.

With the SCT Livewire for the 6.0 diesels, can I use it to read a code on someone else's 6.0 without using an unlock? I just want to pull the code and nothing else. Also do I have to set my truck back to the stock program to do it? Thanks for the info.

Not sure about that, but the XCAL3 will read codes off anything.

Tyler, or anyone else
I have an xcal 3 for my mustang gt, do I have to set the car back to stock as well as will it take away an unlock off of the programmer? thanks. |

No, you shouldn't have too, just plug your xcal into the truck, and click on Check Engine, and READ DTC... should work. I just used ours on my buddies truck this morning.

Scan tool software
Will the AutoEnginuity software for the laptop work like the Snap-on Solus scan tool? Will it tell me if i have a bad injector, or bad ICM, which injector it is and all that stuff?

I'm not to sure about that software, but I think it will tell you which injectors fail the buzz tests.
