I have mounted several in my various trucks..First off...FORGET trying to mount it under the hood...a little bit of water and its toast!. Probably the best place is behind one of the seats, if not under the seat. Use at least a #4 cable for both pos and neg. Hook it up off the power dist. box under the hood, tap in where the batt cables attach. On mine, I bypassed the installed on/off switch in leiu of an LED toggle on the dash. You might also want to consider running it through a solenoid (continous service, generally around 6-8 bucks, and running your "switch" side from a "hot in run" circuit..that way you won't have a dead battery if you forget to turn it off...been there done that.

You could also install it in your camper. Maybe make a carpeted box for it to make it pretty and make an access port through the cab and the bed to run the cables through into the cab. Just get a little creative. If it fits, I would just bolt it down under one of the seats, preferably one of the passenger seats.
