Cool Fuel Pressure?

I have been warned by more than one buddy that stacking chips or turnin up the fuel could eventually break a tip off an injector.... (what a racket that would be) I was just wondering if there was anyone who knew how much pressure we were talkin to do something like this, if it is possible. I know I have had a code already saying that my fuel pressure was above prefered levels? Help please... is there a gauge that will monitor the correct range of operation for injector pressure?

Cool Fuel pressure

Hey there, I've had my system stacked and all the bells and whistle going off for 10000mi. I had to put popoff valves inline with the MAP sensor. That stopped the check engine light from coming on. I had the fuel pressure code and the check engine light on after a full throttle run with my Diablo programmer. My super chips doesn't do it. It would be intresting to know what the fuel pressure is at all times. To see it while driving you would have to mount it outside on the hood. I run a ICP controller. The guy I bought mine from has 50000mi on his truck with a chip and the ICP controler. This ICP controller is worth 85hp.

You can actually buy electronic fuel pressure gauges. This way you can mount them in the truck. I'm thinking of getting one myself.

Check out the AutoMeter site. Click on electric full sweep gauges and you'll find them. Has a sending unit that goes in fuel line and just a few wires that run into the truck to run the gauge. No worries of fuel leaking in the cab!!

Cool fuel pressure

That will be a much needed improvment. Now if I only knew what the fuel pressure should be I would know how over the top I am!!!!! Bill

Her is what it says in my Haynes manual. 1999 models: 47-55psi. 2000 & up:40 to 60psi. That is at an idle. Does not say anything about under load but i would think it should stay within those guidelines when on it to. Hope this helps!

Cool Fuel pressure

Wow, thanks. I still have my homeaid 0-100 gauge w/schrader fitting. If I can get this hooked up I can at least see what the difference is with my ICP mod. You don't think that the pressure data from you manual is the lift pump do you?

Fuel Gage

You Don't Want To Put Any Restriction Inline After The Injector Pump. You Can Plug A Tuner Up To The Obd 2 Port While It Is Running If It Has Diagnostic Feature. I Belive The Deablo Sport Tuner Has That Abealty. Then You Can See Icoming Air Temp For Track Tuning. See If That Works For You.
