HPOP questions.
Hey all,
Another newbe question. When I start the truck, warm or cold, it cranks for about 5 to 15 seconds, and then starts up with no problems. On the guage cluster, the oil presure is nothing for about 3 seconds, then goes to normal. does this sound like the HPOP not having oil in the reservoir? I have yet to go out and open the hpop to see if there is oil in there. There is a nut on top of the HPOP with a alan key, and I am going to guess that is to check the level. Also where is the check valve? Thanks for the info. I just want to get all the info before I go outside and work on it. It is beging to get cold in Ohio, and I have not got my new winter gear so I might freeze to the truck!!!

The gauge taking a few min to register is totally normal. Are you running a lighter weight oil? In the cold climates you should be running 10w-40 or 5w-40, it makes a huge difference!! If you want to check the HPOP level pull the plug on the right side of the top of the HPOP, the oil should be within a 1/2" of the bottom of the treads, 3/4-1" from the top of the HPOP housing.

hpop
Hey all,
thanks for the replies, my truck as a small leak, so I check it every time I start it, and it never gets below the add mark. it leaks aobut 2 qts a week.... I checked the plug on the hpop and it was towards "full" I checked it after running it for about 2 hours, and then let it set for about 2 hours. It sat over the weekend so I will check it again. Thanks again, |
