OK... I've read all the good things about the custom tunes and all of the bad things about the canned tunes...so
My PSD use: mostly a daily driver with weekend moderate towing (16" flat bed with hay {3 tons + 1500 lb trailer} or loaded with my 67 stang, and an occasional heavy haul of a stock trailer loaded with cattle, about 12K pounds)... The truck does fine with these, but who wouldn't want some extra power... I've got an ERG guage, and a 4" banks monster exhuast already... Found the following 94-03 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L Combo Kit... SUPER PERFORMANCE K&N Air Filter intake cold air induction, Boost Relief Valve, and Brand New TS Performance 6 position Chip ( I would probably get the Stock, 50, 75, 100, High idle, Anti-Theft burn)... all for $380.00 with free shipping...(94-03 Ford Powerstroke 7.3L Combo Kit - Advance Diesel Performance) This seems like a super sweet deal...what do you PSDers think... should I be jumping on this? ![]() Scott ![]() PS. Am I going to get the dreaded surge with this tuner and need a wicked wheel as well? They yave a kit combo with all of the above, pluss the wheel for $479.00. The seller is a good guy, I have dealt with him in the past, not as good as custom tuning but better than the Banks I had when I ordered it.

OK so I guess I'm confused... I thought that the TS tuner was a "custom" tuner for a particular year PSD... the difference being "canned" tunes do not alter the transmission functionality (which the TS tuner does)... Is a "custom" tune written for a single particualr vehicle?

Ts is not a custom tuned chip.... and i wouldnt run that K&n either... but thats just me.. i would go with a custom tuned chip like a TW or PHP and do a DIY intake or a S&B intake...

Wildman tunes for the 7.3 are top notch. DP tuner's are excellent also. The TS chip is good, but the tunes on it are not as good as the rest of the well known 7.3 tuners.
It does help with the shifting, and for the price I thought it was a good deal. I had no complaints about it. |

i dealt with advanced for my ts chip, and so far love it, but would love to get custom tunes when i get the rest of my supporting mods. Advanced was the best deal i could find, and the free shipping was a good deal even tho it took 9 days to ship to NY

Cant TW do a reburn on the TS chip? Advance sells it for 235, and the reburn is like 150 i think, so thats 385 for a chip with TW tunes. Am I wrong?

i wouldnt put a k and n filter on a high compression motor like a diesel, youll "dust" the engine, just me .02, diy intake is much better

agreed with ryandamo the "intake" advanced sells is pretty crappy, its just a chrome tube with a k and n. I would def do the tymar instead

K&N
Why no K&N filter? I have run one in my '97 since it was new - no problems at all. I also have one in my '02 Excursion.
