Can i use a 1996 PSD enginea and wireharness in my 99 psd?

Im having horrible trouble with the truck and im about to give up.
I have a 96 psd with harness and ecu i could use for the 99 ford f250.
will this go in? i just have to change out cpu's correct?

I am going to say no.

The harness for the 96 has two clips per side that go into the valve cover and the 99 has one per side.

As far as I know that is the only difference. Some other techs on here may be able to tell you more but, that is all I know for sure that is different.

I suppose it could be possible to change the harness and valve covers and under valve cover harnesses all over but.....wait a minute....I think the 99 valve covers have more bolts in them....anyway.....

Don't try this until you talk to a better informed tech on here!

To play it safe I would say to get the 96 harness off of ebay or the stealer (dealer) if you have to.

Wait to see what some techs have to say about this first.

What was your reasoning for replacing the harness in the 96?

I cannot get my truck to run correctly at all. (see my threads on the 99 7.3 problems) Ive had about enough with the POS.. it only has 140K miles is the sad part. ive spent 2500 in parts in 4 days with no luck.. I have access to a 96 van with 100K miles.
i was gonna pull its motor and wiring harness and cpu and install it in my truck.

WOW... I hate to hear how much trouble you have been through.

After reading, you have done everything I would have done to this point.

One silly question....Did you change the oil and oil filter after the o ring fix? If not I would give that a try. It would be a fairly cheap thing to do considering.

It can be frustrating...
