hi amp or duals?
Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade my charging system in my 01 7.3. I can't seem to find a single high amp alternator. Do I have to go with duals or is there a high amp single out there? -figure someone here has waned this and has maybe done it. thx! -dave |

DC Power Engineering Alternators
Raul @ Stealth Automotive says these are the best kinds. I believe him |

i'm sure those are good! -yea, i've seen similar in the $3-450 range but jeeze....
i know they are expensive; not saying Raul's prices are high. I'm sure he's not making much on them....those super high amp jobbers are just expensive. i was hoping for something a little more low cost witha little less AMPs. i think the stocker is 120ish AMPs? I'm plowing with it this year and it takes some juice to lift that thing. I was hoping for something just a bit stronger then stock...and i'll keep my current one as a backup. |

Yes stock is a 110 peak and 60 at idle. I was hoping to get one of the DC Engineering ones but they were too much for me and I needed it now. Haven't really seen any others.

good to know! thanks!
yea, we have a couple alternator re-builders around here. i'm considering buying a regular replacement and having my old one rebuilt with some beef (if possible). then if i burn the new one out, i have the beefy one as a backup.....while i get the other one beefed.

Good plan. I finally had to replace one that was a reman after three years. Replaced with a remaned Duralast but it had a lifetime warranty. They'll probably be tired of me burning through em soon
