code p1000
it says that's an incomplete scan, so how do I get a complete scan? also, how long will the codes stay in there. I just got a code reader cuz my cel has been coming on when I'm towing hard, but after it idles down for a while, the light goes off. do I need to plug in the reader while the lights on? can I do it while i'm driving down the highway? If I stop and turn off the truck, the light is off when I turn it back on. thanks

teh code reader should tell you to plug it in and wait 1o secs on most readers. then turn teh key but don't start. and it should say linking with computer or something of that nature. and it will read codes that are stored. and yes even if teh light goes out it will store it. and sometime you can trow a codde and the light won't even come on. these are referred as to ghost codes. i hope this helps i don't know what reader you got so i can't go into details. but your truck should be truned off while doing this.

It is normal for the light to come on when towing hard. I think it will be an over boost code. Im no 100% sure, but I think p1000 is an all clear code.

P1000 is test complete, scan incomplete, code. In other words you hooked up the scanner, the scanner ran itself check but you never scanned for trouble codes.
