Need a good 7.3 engine

Looking for a friend of mine. His 00 F-350 finally on its last leg @ 470,000 miles. Looking for either a low mile used or recomendations for new or remans. He uses this truck for transport work so he needs a good engine. He started having problems while on the road in Nebraska, so he found a shop to work on it and they told him it needed injectors. $3200 later and it still runs terrible and uses a gallon of oil in about 125 miles. I am going by what the shop there is telling him but I am pretty sure it is time for a new engine.

some good reman ones on ebay from texas I believe. 3k plus shipping and a core charge. But no injectors, turbo etc. Just a long block but new rockers, push rods.
seems like a good deal.
