WTH on back order

I have a 2002 F-250 4x4. I need a new electronic shift switch that is on the dash. I go to the dealer. It is on back order. How in the heck is this switch on back order. Are there that many switches needing to be replaced. The dealer said it could be 2 weeks if not longer before they can get one.

I went to a local junk yard no help there either.

This just sucks.

Thats weird. Have you went to another dealer or called another dealer?

Dealers parts shelves are bare, it costs money to keep parts sitting on the shelf. They can usually get most parts overnight so they figure it's cheaper in the long run. Forget about the customer who has to go a extra day without his truck. Have you tried Powerstrokeshop.com? This is the first one I have heard that failed, I would keep calling salvage yards.

Don't leave home without it. Might even show you a place with a part just down the street. Free reg, and I've never received spam from them.

Best to have true part number for the search.

Also, does not have International as an option, for for us, the Ford part numbers would be needed.

TRW makes the switches at a plant near my house. All but 2 guys are laid off there. Thats the reason for your backorder

well there is two different dealers that are about an hour from me that have it in stock. Lucky for me I have a friend that works near the one.
