Programmer or Chip?

What should I use to spice up my '01 F-350. Right now I have an Edge Evolution. I have been told this is not the best option. What would you suggest for a stock turbo, stok injector truck?

I would look at custom tunes. Check out tony wildman or power hungry performance. Those 2 will hook you up with some sweet tunes to liven up your truck. Yeah you really need to get the edge out. It is hard on trannies. I had the evo 1 in my old and i got rid of it after 3 months.

I just hate to spend that kind of money till I do a turbo and injectors. Is there no off the shelf brand that is not hard on trannies until money permits for a turbo?

Well honestly PHP's chips are really reasonable. I mean the canned tunes are still almost $400 bucks and custom ones are no more expensive. http://www.powerhungryperformance.com/ CHeck out their website. The phoenix chip is a ts switch chip with PHP's custom tuning.

When I was in your boat I chose a programmer because I had no need for shift on the fly, this was also back when Jody was putting his tunes on the SCT XCal II, I was only one of three that ordered it so he dropped it. But I wanted to be able to read codes and it has paid for itself on my truck and several friends so it was the wise investment. But now I have the AE software and it is awesome, still learning all about it but it will run all kinds of diagnostic tests. My recommendation is buy a custom chip and then save up for the AE software and you will be all set.

Auto enginuity. I also bought it this year. Like NCH i am still learning how to use it. I mostly use it to check for codes. I found that i have a bunch of buddies now, who live by me and want to use the thing. You can run tons of engine tests and all sorts of good stuff. I almost feel like i need to go back to school to learn what all the test options mean. If you had this program, then you don't need a programmer.
