idm gets signal from what? tough ???

Does the cam sensor give the idm signal on what injector to fire?
What tells the idm where it is in rotation and which cylinder needs to be fired?
Whats the relation between the idm and the ecm?they are seperate but must work together? how?

so I can understand whats going on. Starting to get a good idea.
But mostly into how the idm knows what cylinderto fire? I am assuming its the cps?But i could of sworn, that read that fires once a revolution?? If it does, that wont tell the idm enough
