Body Swap (Reposted from Exterior discussion)
Alright here's the deal. I have at my disposal two 01 f-350's. One is a crew cab 4x4 single wheel long bed. Standard tranny with motor that has only 160k on it and sounds quieter than the new one that was just put into one of our other trucks. The problem is that it was rolled and the body is shot. Bed is still in good shape with a pop-outable dent on the passenger side. The other truck is one that we bought for the motor. The body is in good shape but it is just a standard work truck with crank windows, vinyl floor etc. It is also an automatic.
What we need done is a body swap from the automatic XL truck to the standard rolled over lariat. What I need to know is how difficult is this to do. I havn't pulled a body off of one of these sizable trucks before (did a 91 ranger a few years back), and I have never changed something from automatic to standard. A mechanic offered his services for $800 to swap the bodies. But I dont think he was told about the power windows and seats that I want swapped as well. So lets take a guess and say its gonna cost about $1200.
Should I just spend the $1200 on the swap or try and tackle this myself? I am pretty mechanical and am sure my uncle and I could do this fairly easily with some guidance but is it just worth it to have him do it for me?
Any links or feedback is GREATLY appreciated.
