are you hitting the brakes when this happens? Even if you aren't this could be a brake caliper slide pin hanging up. When the weather first gets cooler we see this a lot because most people don't lube them like they should. How does the alignment do when cruising down the highway?

Did you find out what was wrong? Mine is doing the same thing. I also tried ball joints. My passenger side upper was bad anyway. I also tried jacking the front end up to make sure the steering links were good and with the key to the on position (not running) I turned the wheels to either side. There was no play in the links but it spewed power steering fluid all over the place. It doesn't leak when the the truck is running though. It sometimes is almost impossible to turn the steering wheel when I'm not moving. Also my steering is tight I have execelent steering response, it doesn't wander it darts, and when it does it jerks the steering wheel.

mine did the same thing untill i replaced the u joints and the inner seals on the axle. when the u joints dont get used they bind up and with the inner seal gone the axle shaft sags causing it to bind even more, then when you turn the steering wheel the
axle shaft lets go causing the steering to jump like that. |
