1999 MPG/Direction indicator not working
Hey guys,
I am going to pick up a 1999 F350 Lariat with the 7.3L PS today, but it has just one problem. The display for the MPG/Direction above the driver is not showing anything. Is this an easy fix? Is there a backlight that commonly burns out? Thanks! |

I know there was a thread on this some time ago.. something about taking it apart and soldering something or something or other. I wouldn't disqualify buying a powerstroke because of this lol

Oh of course not! Plus it has over 400,000 miles and this is the only problem. It still has the original motor and tranny. I would just like instant MPG.

When we first got our 02 we thought it didnt work as well but it was dimmed way way down. Hold the two buttons in for 30 seconds and it resets.

I pulled mine out and gave it to a local radio guy (also works on CB radio) and he looked at it and did the simple soldering for me and it works great again.
