Another Alternator bad??? truck seems like batteries going again... Help

Since the spring I am on my third alternator. First one went bad and I had it replaced under warr. The second one they gave me went bad after two months or so. Now it has been 3-4 months and yesterday I went to start the truck and it started hard (like batteries are dying). I didn't put a meter to it yet but... had a couple of thoughts, what do you think?

1 - another bad alternator (not likely to get two in a row)

2 - one of the batteries is dying and it is sucking the life out of both of them and the alternator can't keep up

3 - something wrong with starter? (don't know how to check this to see if it is the problem or not).

4 - something else that I have no clue about, much less how to check.

Help please....

Check your connections... make sure they are nice and tight. Look over your battery wires and make sure they are not corroded and need to be replaced. I have replaced starters before because of bad connections...

I have had one bad battery take out my alternator before. Might be worth your time to have your batteries tested. Make sure you unhook one before they test them...

I am buying new batteries on the way home to drop them in. Already looked at connections and they looked fine.

Other thoughts?

have you monitored the volts once the alternator kicks in.... that is easy to check

I just just had a problem like this. My alternator went bad and was overcharging the batteries, literally cooking them. It was charging them to 16.5 volts. I first replaced the batteries thinking they went bad (becuase the guages were haywire). Then the same thing happened. I dont have a tuner yet so I had to go and get it tested just to make sure it was the alternator and sure enough it was...ended up getting one at NAPA and replacing it.

There is a TSB out that faults a ground under/around the fan shroud. I went through 3 alternators and 2 sets of batteries before my mechanic found the TSB.
