Unhappy Is my truck worth fixing up? In a bind and need motivation or direction

As some of you's might know, I bought my truck from a contractor. I've always wanted a diesel and I found this for the right price. I sold my 2005 fully loaded civic that got 45mpg for this truck, and I'm proud of it.
What I'm trying to say is, I guess I'm asking what you guys think of it, and if it's worth restoring. I've bought a LOT of cars and restored them, but they were just cars to me. I'm in love with my diesel and plan on keeping it for a long time, which is my motivation for sinking the money I'm going to put into it.

I'm going to post some current pictures of it, then underneath them post what I'm going to do to that particular part of the truck. Keep in mind I've already begun cleaning the truck up from when I bought it 4-5 months ago, but this reflects nothing like what it will look like in 1-2 mos when I drop 1500$-2200$ into it.

I already took off some stupid bumper stickers. Those ****ty blue words on the top of the tail gate have already been removed. Going to rhino line a 6" portion along the bottom of the tail gate, and the tailgate rail is going to be rhino lined.

Truck is dirty here, so obviously that mud and dirt wont be there. I'm removing those hubcaps and painting the stock wheels underneath it flat black. Going to remove the "5" sticker by the Super Duty emblem. Tinting windows to 5%. 6" of rhino lining is going to be applied along the bottomf of the truck all the way around it.

Again, hubcaps coming off, flat black paint going onto stock wheels (looks like the one in the rear). 5% window tint, debadging that stupid "5" sticker, rhino lining rockers. Rhino lining bed rails and bed. Putting on a 5" black exhaust tip.

Rhino lining the bed and bed rails

Painting all blue plastic black (actually going to use dye), 5% tint, 2004 style cup holder, and debating getting custom tailored and stitched seat covers or really nice power, lumbar, heated seats for front and rear.

I'll also be getting gauges and a tw 6pos chip.

What do you guys think? Does my truck look ok in the first place? How do my plans sound?

Matt

Upon doing some searching around, I think I'm swaying towards some black leather seats w/ heated seats, power lumbar, power 9 way adjustment, and massaging capabilities. Plus I'm dying my whole interior black, and I think it will look great w/ my white truck.

How many miles are on the truck? Its should be good as long as the rest is mechanically sound.

Just turned 142k. The truck itself is solid as hell. I just get "that feeling" with it. I absolutely trust it. The only other thing I'm going to look to in a few months is new shocks. I'm pretty sure the stockers are shot. So you think my plans for it sound good then?

If it were me, I'd be changing out all fluids (motor oil, tranny, coolant, axles, t/c), including filters (oil, air, fuel) ASAP. That's what I did when I first got my used PSD with 130k miles. Then I waited for "buy 3 get 1 free" and threw on some new Bilstein shocks!

Good luck!

Restore it? It's barely broken in.

Get the bed lined and the upholstery on that seat fixed. That'll make a world of difference cosmetically. Then do what agoodhi suggested - change all the fluids and filters so you have a baseline on where the truck is mechanically. You might also change the serpentine belt and all the radiator hoses while you're at it.

Test-strip the coolant if you're not going to change it. Spend some quality time underneath the truck. Give everything a once-over, paying special attention to brakes, ball joints, oil pan, tie rods, water pump, sway bar bushings, and the rear pinion seal.

Best of luck with the new rig.

When I got my truck it had 143K on it... now it's up to 186K. So, I say heck yeah yours is worth fixin' up the way you want it... I like the sound of the heated power leather seats... Sounds like your plans all the way around are well thought out... Good luck!!!

I've already done all the fluids testing and all that. The underbody is spotless and will have a nice layer of rust inhibiting compound layed on, then on top of that rubberized undercoating. I'm talking cosmetically though.. thats the only issue I have.

I'm getting leather seats, all new front and rear, with built in massagers, power controls, heated seats, etc. Getting all the plastics dyed black, updated cup holder, new style radio/controls, etc.
You guys think its a good idea to sink the money into it then? I think I'll def. keep it around a long time once I get it to the level I'm talking on here. I'm ordering all this stuff in about a month when I get a large check in my bank account. So you say go for it and drop the money into it?

Oh and I'm not worried about the miles on it.. I'm pretty much asking if you guys think this truck is trashed out and not worth it, or if I should bite the bullet and make it a badass truck.

When you rhino line the bedcaps and tailgate top on these trucks do you remove the plastic OEM bedcaps?

hell ya! That plastic is stupid. Traps in moisture and it doesn't look as good as the rhino lining.

Plus up north salt and **** can be trapped in there and cause unknown rusting
