A couple questions
I've been reading a little about the new 6.4 and came across the new oil specs- API CJ-4. Apparently this is due to the new ULSD and the reduced lubricity. My question is would there be any advantage to running this in a 7.3 that is constantly using ULSD? As far as I know, all of the filling stations here (at least the ones we use) have the ULSD. I have noticed a little difference in the way my truck runs and it certainly doesn't smoke like it used to. I have related it to the ULSD but, could it just be coincidence, maybe something's getting weak? It has about 140,000 and nothing's been done outside of routine maint. and alternator, except mods listed below.
My second question is what's the word on the new S&B CAI's? I like what I've read in their advertisments but, you know how that goes. My hang up is that it's pleated cotton gauze, like K&N. Can they really be that much better as far as filtration. K&N used to be the end all for better flowing filters but, then we found out they don't filter to a small enough micron to keep dust out of the turbo. I'd appreciate any thoughts, opinions or experiences. Thanks!
