Whistle noise 99 F250?
I have an odd whistle noise coming form somewhere when I get on the throttle. I don't believe it's from the motor. It won't do it in neutrel or park when i rev it up. It sound like a low pitched fire whistle and it gets worse with more rpm but only when it's gear and moving. When it upshifts and the rpm's drop it quiets down till you pic up rpm's again. Anybody got any ideas?

It's definately not coming from the turbo. You can hear the turbo as well as this at the same time. It's more of a high pitched whistle than the turbo. It just started doing this last night and sounds totally different than the turbo. It almost sounds like a dry bearing. Also what should you put in your sig? That's why I never filled it out?

It might be a IC boot leaking... Check all of your the connections from the turbo to the Intercooler, and from the intercooler to the intake.
As far as what to put in your signature... everybody does it a little different, but to me the essentials are Model year, and a little background of what your truck is... ie: trans, drw?, plus what mods you have done. This kind of information makes it much easier for folks to help you figure out problems when you have them... and keeps you from having to type in that information everytime. |

Yeah, I had a leak on mine for a while, sounded more like air surging though.
Check all the clamps at the connections that boost travels through before entering the heads - particullary the clamps under the plenum. |

Yup, sounds like a leak in one of the boots to me too, and you will only get it when your under power, may be a small crack in the boot, or it could be one has come a little lose. Just check all the clamps that hold the boots on, including the ones on the Y manifold ( red ) and you should find it.

I think we found the problem. It's coming from the tranny. We think the tranny pump is making the whistle/whine noise. How long do you guys think it will last? It has 120,000 miles on it.
