I have a 2000 f350. 7.3 6spd. Dually 4dr. I am building it as a wrecker. THE truck has 3k on brand new trans and clutch. REBUILT rear end. 505k on motor.
I have a 99 f250 with 160k. AS parts truck.
Step 1. SWAP motors.
2. pull bed.
3. INSTALL wrecker bed.
4. ADD pto unit.
Number 4 bring me to my 1st question. it is possible....and if so how hard...to add factory ford pto controller.
WHAT will I need to do so
only problem you might run into is if the wrecker bed is for a cab and chassis as alot of them are.....
4. depends on what transmission you have and if it has the PTO option(not all do)/ what transfer case(4wd). both are options on both.
BW 1356 off a diesel OBS, not sure if the superduty got them or not.
you need a pto cover(6 bolt cover) with a gear on the inside to install a PTO.
the PTO controller just controls the RPMs,
most PTOs you place the transmission in neutral, flip a switch to engage the gears, then let the clutch out slowly to get it spinning.
