It Finally Happened.
Yup. CPS faliure. Its been acting up for a few months and I knew it was the CPS so I bought one on Ebay and tossed it in the glove box. Then yesterday it did it twice then FINALLY set a code. It still runs but the CEL came on until I turned it off and re-started it. It was "Cam position sensor intermitent" 1st one as far as I know in the trucks 65,000 miles. No big deal I guess.
So tommorow is the day to fix all the crap thats been wrong since I bought it. New CPS, Ball joints, all 4 rotors. Wish me luck.

7.3 Cam sensor replacement procedure
Mine never "stalled" but it would "cut out" for a split second on the highway like once every 2 weeks then it just did it twice on my way home from work yesterday then it set the SES light. |

well, everything is done. I started at 9:30 and finished up at like 2:30. I did the CPS, all 4 ball joints, all 4 rotors and pads, adjusted the e-brake shoes, greased the rest of the front end and flushed the tranny. The truck is MINT now! Im so happy to have the clunky ball joints fixed and the brake pulsation is now gone also. I just put 4 new tires on it like 2 weeks ago also so it rides nice and smooth down the road now. Now im just waiting for some warmer weather so I can put on my '06 grille, my OEM fog lights and new headlights and corner lights.

Super, I think you should slow down and have a coffee, your just going at it way to hard, send that grill and the lights up to me and I'll let you know if they fit right or not, don't want you going to all that trouble and them not fit the way they should now do we. hahaha, sounds like you had a good day man, glad you got it all done. Takes me that long just to get out of bed hahaha.

souds like he drank alot of coffee just prior to starting the work on the truck. That's how I am when I get started. Kinda figure "hell, while I'm dirty already I might as well do this too, and that, and this." pretty soon the sun goes down and the old lady gets irritated cause I haven't paid any attention to her.

Cps?
Thanks all for the input here. Just picked up a used psd van for work and just starting to go through it and hit the obvious stuff while the weather is favorable.
for the past week or so I noticed the skip a beat thing thinking it was fuel related due to sitting I added some cleaner and changed the filter. Still missing so thanks to you guys I just ordered the CPS figuring at 70000 mi with 90% odds of this being it will get er done in a couple days with much savings in the $ dept. I'll drive the dually for a couple days while the part is in transit. Thanks again and hope I can help you guys sometime. Any carpentry or old house stuff just ask! SCM |
