2001 f350 4 dr long bed auto dually, 4x4 111k miles and the guy is selling it for his grandparents. tons of picture but it towed 5thwheel trailer for about 45k of its 111k miles. says no leaks but...
What do you look for with duallys in particular?
I have to be honest hear too. I really like my current 99 7.3l but.... its a super cab regular bed with a late 99 engine and early 99 suspension... so it will be a $$$ to upgrade to newer suspension and working on the house has caused me miss a true 4dr long bed for cargo and I don't need a dually by any means but its a very reasonable price and I love the look.
*I know brakes, tires, rotations and stuff will be more $$
*most likely lower gearing so mpg on highway/city would suffer
*teaching my wife on my old 4dr long bed wasn't bad but we'll see about a dually...
LOL, if the mirrors clear, usually the fenders clear, when teaching your wife you may want to pull the mirrors out. Mine has 4.10s so it tachs around 2300-2350 at 70 mph ish, but it pulls like a tractor Mine's also fairly stock you can see what I've done to it in my sig
I love the way duallies look! I'm really happy with my '01 SRW and don't know that I need one so I don't know if I'll have one.
Most of it should be like looking at an SRW so the dually part will probably be at the axles of the truck. As you stated, it will probably have a 4.10 gear ratio, at least, possibly 4.30s. The diff tag will tell you. I've talked to a couple of dually owners who said it's like driving a SRW, you just need to remember the training wheels at corners so you're not scuffing or hopping curbs or be more attentive in parking spaces.
ya for me it would be the exact same mods haha. Left the guy a voicemail so crossing my fingers.
I am at like 1900-2100 rpms at 65-70mph so not too much difference. I just like the fact that other than gooseneck its stock and has some dings but nothing Id worry about. can you do brakes at home? just need normal things or does a dually require any out of the ordinary tools?
also does a dually typically weigh 1-2k more then a SRW? only reason I ask is because California has a weight fee and they round by the 1000's NO LIES....

Those "training wheels" make it feel like it's glued to the road. Mine handles nice, it a supercab long bed and when I took it across the scales it was 7700 lbs

Totally forgot to update I'm sorry. I called the guy to ask if I could look at it that night versus Saturday. But... He let me know someone put $3k down for viewing it tomorrow, so he doesn't want to be shady. Long Story short the deposit got the truck
I'll be sure to verify I update threads from now on.
so....
are you looking for a fat bottom?
or just trying to make sure you are never without a superdookie again after the "dry" time when you sold your 6.0 >
I can help keep an eye out if you want.
I seem to have a gift for finding deals of course sometimes it is a basket like when i bought my 6.0 but...i LOVE this thing now oil leak and all :look:
didnt have much time to look but i think toren is going to be proven right again and it will be the sending unit
Honestly I am on the market for a 4dr long bed. doesn't matter if she's a fat bottom or single wheel.
I really have grown to like my current truck but I am already missing the 4dr long bed room. I have been getting wood, drywall, flooring, appliances and what not and the bed is just too small. When my wife and I travel the back seat is always secured storage as well. I have gained a new respect for the 7.3 because initially I was a little less then pleased with acceleration and power but the mileage and reduced cost of maintenance has proven to be what I am looking for.
If I could find like a 2002 4dr long bed it would be the best...
1. I am tired of the late 99 engine with early 99 suspension. my brakes, hubs, and lift kit options are severely limited without spending $$$ to change the hubs, rotors, studs etc.
2. the 2000-2001 has a time period where a mechanical diode trans mission component has been known to fail more often
3. I am not after power anymore by any means but if I could avoid the 2003 I believe that has different rods I would like to avoid if possible.
so in a nutshell anyone with a 4dr, long bed late build 2001, or 2002 f350 7.3 would have my eye hahaha.
my current truck just turned 127k though and Although I have to replace the ICP sooner than later it has saved me a ton on fuel and maintence compared to my previous 6.0s lol.
our old business 02 lb was a nice truck and got me looking for my own personal which as we know is my 6.0
that 7.3 did get 20 to 23 dependably stock.
I was getting that or better out of my 6.0 but only on a smokey tune I do not like to run that does not compensate for the stage 2 turbo.
long story short if i could find an ex with a 7.3 and had the cash to buy it I would.
I LOVE my 6.0 I just need the time and money to finish it off and get her done so I can be less worried about it.
EDIT:
I could never again own a short bed or regular cab and doubt i would ever be happy with an extra cab again.
i LIKE having 4 full doors even if the back sseat is just for my dogs
