Is it a worthwhile mod? I see that it "looks better" and makes the "turbo louder" but does it offer any power gain at all?
It appears that this has already been done to my truck on the passenger side intercooler piping, however it is still in place on the driver's side. Should I remove the foil on the driver's side? |

No power gain at all.
Also there there never was foil on the cold side of the intercooler. They only ever put it on the drivers side. The whistle is the sound of the compressor wheel, and since that is the IC tube closest to it, that is the one they put the foil on to quiet it down. |

Its mostly a cosmetic mod, no power gain. I think the left side is the only side that has it.

There isnt foil to begin with on the passenger side, and the drivers side is what everyone takes off. |

You are mainly looking to do this mod if you are going to paint or powdercoat your ic tubes at some point, some say that they couldn't tell the difference in turbo sound.
