I'm looking to do this mod. Are there any issuses with using a used cooler off of Ebay. If so, where can I get for the best price besides the dealer. I found one on puredieselpower.com for $389. Thanks.

some people will say its alright to use a used one, some people will say only new. some people say you cant clean out a used one, some say you can...

i used a used cooler in my truck. took it to my trans guy (who has built SEVERAL trans for me including the one i have now). im not sure how or what he used but he cleaned it out and said it was good to go... but its up to you on what you want to install in your truck

I myself wouldn't but I bought mine when you could get them for $60 shipped!!! If the used cooler came out of a truck that had a toasted trans you have a chance of all that debri being caught inside the cooler only to bust loose and enter your trans. A Rad shop can flush them out but you never know if you got it all because they aren't transparent so at best case it's a crap shoot. I don't gamble on components that cost thousands of dollars!!! But you may want to? EBAY is usually the cheapest but you have to be patient. If you tow this is something I would certainly do, you can also use the cooler from a V10 for far less, but it doesn't have anywhere near as much cooling capacity.

I bought a used 6.0 cooler for $40 from a truck that had been rolled... good deals can be had if you look long enough.

Is it better to add on an extra cooler instead of replacing the existing one with the 6.0L cooller? the aftermarket cooler, new, is around $70. No crap shoot there.
