how do i find out which rearend gear i have

im curious to know my axle ratio without jacking the truck up and marking the drive shaft is there a better way?

ive got a 99 f250 2wd

there should be a code on the sticker inside the drivers door, see if you can look that code up

There should also be a metal tag on the rear end cover, held on by on the the bolts. On the tag it would include 3L73 - 3.73 gears with limited slip. That number in just an example though, it could be 4L10 for 4.10 with limited slip

I would bet you have 3.73.


edit - if you have 3L use some water on a papertowel to wipe off the tag and you'll have 3L 73
