Chips!!!!
ok i have a 2000 f-250 with the 7.3 and is performance wise stock.
I am putting a 4" downpipe and 5" stacks on it, i want smoke i mean big smoke (like the cummings do with the bullydog) what is the best chip to put in my truck to make it haul beepbeepbeep and allow me to make it bellow smoke when i feel the need to pollute? I've thought bout the EDGE JUICE/ATTITUE BULLYDOG POWER PUP PROGRAMER which as far as i could see made the most hp and torque SCT TUNER seems like changing the fuel mixture or w/e would make it smoke but i really want shift on the fly and im not sure what kind of guages i need to be sure my truck is operating correctly. I am installing a rated clutch so putting the power to the ground isn't a problem and have a diesel technician helping me but YOU ALL KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT WORKS WELL/OK/AND SUCKS so help me out guys before i waste my money!!!! I moved this over to this forum for you so it would get a little more attention.
If i were you, I would be looking at the DP, or the Twildman chips with the extreme smoke tune. These are custom tuned chips specifically for the 7.3, and are set up with the options you have in your truck performance wise. And they are switch on the fly. And personally I prefer the analogue gauges to the digital ones for three reasons #1 more accurate, sometimes the EGT on the digital cant keep up and freeze, #2 If the digital breaks down for some reason, you loose all your gauges til it gets fixed and returned, #3 it's a lot easier to steel the digital box, than to lift a full set of analog gauges and the pillar pod there in. And In my opinion, you may spend a little more to start out this way, but in the long run yo will be ahead of the game, because sooner or later thats the way you will go. Gord. Like Gord said, you can go with a custom chip and boost, pyro gauges. I think you can get custom tunes for some of the tuners also.

I would talk with Jody at DP Tuners, you can tell him what you are wanting to do with your truck and he will make the tunes for your truck. He doesn't have a whole bunch of tuners just sitting around for a certain year truck, he makes them for your truck, pcm, and mods you are doing. He has a 15 position chip that is shift on the fly. I have 5 tunes that I am very happy with.
Call him you won't be disappointed. Jeff Early 99 4X4 6 spd. CC DRW, 6637 Air, Straight piped, ISSPro gauges Pyro, Boost, Water temp, DP Tuner Stock, 40tow, 60tow, 80econo, 120race, KCM S.S. HPX line, ITP Overboost Annihilator. |
