4r100 is just an upgraded e4od I was told by my tranny guy. the 4r100 uses the same flywheel as the e40d I noticed while taking out my transmission. I say it should work but I'm not an expert.

It will work. I've got a 03 4r100 in my 96 van. Everything is the same except you'll need to change the park/neutral switch. It's not hard but if you break it it will cost you about$100 to replace it.

The e40d and the 4r100 autos are both 4 speed.

With enough money anything is possible. You'd have to get an adapter made to bolt it to the engine and then figure out how to get the electronics for the trans to work. Your looking at (conservatively) $2000-2500 just for that and then add in the trans itself. You could have a built e40d for what it's going to cost and in a fraction of the time.
