Battery/alternator mystery, need help

My 02 starter started to drag a couple weeks ago, then truck wouldn't turn over at all. Had batteries and alternator checked, one bad batt and alt bad, replaced them. After a fairly long drive, say 50 miles, when I turn it off it won't start without a jump. New alt has been tested and is good, both batteries check out OK. What else could be wrong, it's driving me nuts. Thanks

Does the starter engage (and just can't get it cranked)? Or nothing at all when you turn the key?

Check out the starter.....

My starter is going out on me, so I'm looking into a gear reduction starter.
