guage pod installation

so i put the empty pod over the factory cover on the a piliar. and it doesnt fit well. then i take the factory cover off and put the gauge pod on and it fits perfectly. the only issue is that i have to find some way to mount it.

so am i suppose to leave the factory cover on or remove it? the auto meter instructions say to leave it. i left it on the obs and ended up cuttin some large holes in it for the wires and bolt mount on the gauge to stick through.

The shop that did mine left the factory cover on there. They pushed the bottom in and secured the top with a screw.

They Autometer Z-series.
