Foot, meet mouth.

OK, so I might have put my foot in my mouth yesterday. Marty and I, along with a few other folks are going to Cecil County Dragway this weekend and I made a LITTLE challenge. I know that Marty ran a 15.2sec 1/4 mile. He really doesn't have that many mods and I know I have more power...so I bet him a 6-pack that I could beat his time and trap speed.

Now, I'm not going to welch on the bet...but...I think I was a little hasty. Marty is running an Auto and I'm in a 6spd. I know that there is NO way I can shift as fast as him...so...

If I can get a good launch, is there any way I can beat his time? I'm also working with a weight penalty. (Just look at the pics of my truck!!!) This mofo weighs in at just under 8500lbs. SO....Marty is in a lightly modded automatic truck, that weighs about 7000-7500lbs, I'm in a modded 6spd, tipping at about 8500lbs. Am I going to loose???

Anything is possible, but I would be asking him what his beer of choice is.

You may have spoken just a little to quick. The auto versus manual is probably what kills you more than the weight penalty. Never pay a bet until its been played out though... see what happens... you may just pull it off. I think it's a long shot though.

After I made the 'challenge' I started thinking about it. I'm thinking that the 3-4 shifts I'm going to have to make are going to add about 1/2-1 1/2 seconds to my ET. Taking into account time to shift and RPM/boost drop during the shift...though it might be even more. I'll keep my word on the bet...but I think I'll settle for a 16 second ET. (Also taking into account that I'm going to clean the bed of the truck out this week as well as the interior. I have A LOT of crap in the bed and behind the rear seat. But I'm going to keep everything I NEED in the truck, including all the tow equipment in the tool box.)

Hard to say, cause you just never know what the gods of drag have up there sleeve Ditty, But the auto makes a big difference, but so can luck. Just don't break anything and do it for the fun of it , and everybody is a winner.

Gord.

You might want to pull your spare tire, run with 1/4 tank of fuel.
